Those who welcomed the return to school

May it be the will of the Lord our God, the God of our fathers and our mothers, that you lead them into the house of the book in peace, and guide them within its walls in peace, and bring them to the end of the year of study, which is near, to life, to joy and to peace. 

And grant the hearts of our sons and daughters to understand, to be enlightened, to hear, to learn, and to teach all the words of the Talmud of Your Torah with love, and all the diverse wealth of culture, knowledge, arts, and dimensions revealed to their eyes from day to day, so that they may discover every day a new thing to be activated by the miracle. And to be alarmed by every small manifestation.

Grant in their hearts the courage to do one act of mercy every day, that they may know how to overcome the evil and appreciate the unknown, and that they may be able to find one thing each day to be grateful for.

The Lord of the world has opened the eyes of our sons and daughters who stand at the threshold of a new life of worldly discoveries, to touch and to discover new worlds within themselves.

Who will grant that our teachers, our sons and daughters, who are engaged in the kingdom of God, will know how to bestow upon them love and patience, that they will know how to cultivate and preserve in our sons and daughters the natural spark of innocence, curiosity, joy and the joy of life? Who will grant that their teachers will know how to be A model and a guide for them and for us.

May we parents have the ability to believe in the hidden strengths of our children, the ability To give them the space they need to succeed and fail at times, and the wisdom to instill in them a love of learning.

Musical Shabbat reception at the Western Wall

Welcoming Shabbat at the Western Wall, the whole family together!

An Israeli house of prayer is coming to Jerusalem! And not just to Jerusalem, to the Old City, and not just to the Old City, to the Western Wall! And not just to the Western Wall but to the egalitarian Western Wall! (The Western Wall!) We are happy to announce a new initiative of musical and joyful Shabbat receptions, especially at the Western Wall, in collaboration with the traditional movement that operates the place. The Shabbat reception will be, as is customary at the place - without instruments - a cappella, with a fine vocal ensemble that includes cantor Athaliah Lavie, singer Moran Maysles and singer Erez Tal, and led by Rabbi Esteban Gottfried. Admission is free. It is recommended to park in the Mount Zion parking lot or in the adjacent parking lot, or in the Kata parking lot. Friday, June 24, Shabbat Korach, 6:00 PM, at the Western Wall. For the first time: Musical Shabbat reception at Caesarea Port

In June and July, every two weeks we will gather in one of the magical places on the coast of Israel, in the port of Caesarea - near the ancient ruins of the ancient temple (from the first millennium CE) that were discovered there, and through singing, piyyut, breeze, sunset, egalitarian prayer, music, and a good atmosphere, we will cleanse the old-new custom of entering the Sabbath, together. 

An Israeli house of prayer is happy and excited about the new collaboration with the Caesarea Port and invites the general public to take part.

The transition between Memorial Day and Independence Day connects sadness with joy, mourning with celebration.

In this time interval, between the sunsets, we will meet for a Havdalah ceremony that was created to fill the emotional space between them and is based on ancient and new, traditional and contemporary sources. Through thought, poetry, prayer and melodies

 

As every year, this year too, we invite you and your friends, members of the Israeli House of Prayer and the general public, to gather together in the moments of transition between Memorial Day and Independence Day – we will gather together the moments of pain and heartbreak and grow stronger together in moments of celebration and joy.

Of all Israel's national holidays, Yom Hazikaron and Yom Haatzmaut are the times in which Israelis feel most connected to one another.

The transition between these two charged days, with the connection between grief and celebration, is emotionally complex for many of us.

Our Havdalah ceremony was created to fill the space between sorrow and joy and is based on ancient and new sources, the traditional and the contemporary.

Through poetry, prayer, hymns, contemplation and Israeli songs, we will come together to experience a gradual emotional transition, right before we finish mourning and begin celebrating our independence.

Although "there is nothing in it," we will embark on a journey through Tel Aviv during which we will visit forgotten corners, discover hidden sites, hidden secrets, and meet familiar and less familiar figures with the intention that during the journey we will discover a little of "something." The city of Tel Aviv is the physical space in which an Israeli house of prayer operates, and no less importantly, the city provides the house of prayer and others with the conceptual and social space - a space that allows ideas to be created, developed, and realized. Since the city's founding, the enabling spaces have existed in it, which have continued to develop and be structured over the years through countless events, actions, and people. On our journey, we will encounter a few of these, some of which have a clear and direct context for building a secular culture, and some of which have a context that is part of a vast web of events whose convergence in a defined physical space has created a reality.

About the tours

We will walk the streets we have walked and the sites we have passed by countless times. We will discover their hidden stories, the history they hold, the people who lived there. We will recognize the contribution of all of these in building a unique city, which is an important and central pillar in the creation of a secular Jewish Israeli culture.

When and where

Our journey this year will include 6 tours that will be held on Fridays. The tours will begin at 9:30, last about an hour and a half to two hours, and include a walk of about 2-3 km. Each tour takes place at a different point in the city. The meeting point will be provided depending on the tour.

About the tour guide

Noam Pink

Born and raised in the center of Tel Aviv. The memories of the places he spent so much of his childhood are now gone. Along with the curiosity to learn about the past of the places we pass by every day, they led him to a hobby of studying and researching the city's past. For several years, he has been planning and leading tours of the city in which he shares the information he has collected.

After the holidays, everything will be renewed.

Hi everyone and after the holidays, healthy and well to everyone.,

We assume that, like us, you are returning to a "routine" that is not routine and is not stable, and most of all we want to remind all of us to take a deep breath and hold hands (from a distance and while following the rules) in the hope that in a few months we will be able to return to conducting ourselves in the world as before and a little differently...

We are happy and moved by all the warm words that were spoken and sent to us following the prayers and meetings.
Starting with the Shabbat Kabbalah broadcast in the summer and through the Elul Beit Midrash, Rosh Hashanah prayers, musical Selichot Eve, Yom Kippur prayers, Shabbat Kabbalah for the holiday of Sukkot and musical laps.
The knowledge that despite the distance and staying at home, we were able to study and pray together, to sing, to strengthen the spirit, and to bring the spirit of an Israeli house of prayer to our hearts and homes fills our hearts with goodness.
We would like to thank everyone who wrote to us and of course everyone who was with us throughout the various days and events on Zoom and Facebook.


 
And what now?
Last week, we moved the offices of an Israeli prayer house to the non-profit complex operating at the Arena in Herzliya, courtesy of the Peace Corps, who invited us to be part of the father of non-profits, at least until Corona passes. Many thanks to our chairman Ronen Keller for the connection.

Our Beit Midrash, led by Dr. Rani Yager, will open at the end of the month and will focus on Hasidic readings from this week's Parasha.
The Beit Midrash will be held every Monday at 7:00 PM on Zoom and we hope that over time we will be able to meet again face to face. An announcement and a link to register will be sent in the coming days.
The musical Shabbat receptions and community and educational gatherings will be held on Zoom and Facebook Live. Of course, we will update here every week what is happening when and on which platform.

Noam Pink and Nimrod are preparing the ground for a traveling group that will go on tours throughout Tel Aviv - Jaffa, guided by Noam himself (of course, in accordance with the instructions). As part of the tours, we will travel and learn together. Thanks in advance to Noam for the wonderful initiative!
The Bar and Bat Mitzvah group and ceremonies are held once every two months under the guidance of Rabbi Esteban Gottfried and Rabbi Benny Minitz. The ceremonies are led by Esteban, Rani and Benny and are accompanied musically by the wonderful Athaliah Lavie and additional members of the Israeli Prayer House Ensemble at the request of the family.
We have resumed the activities of the Israeli Prayer House Mutual Aid Fund and we thank everyone who donated to the fund and invite you to continue donating to the fund so that we can support those who need support these days and in general.

In keeping with the spirit of the times, we are building the plan for the upcoming quarter and the upcoming year of activity and are asking you to take part and offer suggestions for study sessions and community activities (online and offline).
Nimrod Bejarno, our community coordinator, and Limor Huizlich, the chair of the community committee, are waiting to hear from you.

 
To conclude the update, we invite you, new and old friends, partners and supporters, to become partners in the journey and renew your partnership fees in an Israeli house of prayer. Partnering in the journey in an Israeli house of prayer is a decision of profound significance.
